ইংরেজি গ্রামারের ভিত্তি হলো Parts of Speech। যেকোনো sentence বুঝতে, লিখতে বা translate করতে হলে প্রথমে জানতে হবে প্রতিটি শব্দ কোন ভূমিকায় বসছে। এই blog-এ ৮টি Parts of Speech-এর সংজ্ঞা, প্রকারভেদ, উদাহরণ এবং BCS/NTRCA/Bank job-এ আসা প্রশ্ন একসাথে পাবেন।

Definition: A pronoun is a word used in place of a noun to avoid repetition.
বাংলা ব্যাখ্যা: Noun-এর পরিবর্তে যে শব্দ ব্যবহৃত হয় — তাকে Pronoun বা সর্বনাম বলে। উদাহরণ: Karim is a good boy. He reads in class five. এখানে Karim-এর পরিবর্তে He বসেছে।
Definition: A verb is a word that expresses an action, state of being, or occurrence.
বাংলা ব্যাখ্যা: যে শব্দ দ্বারা কোনো কাজ করা, অবস্থা বা ঘটনা বুঝায় — তাকে Verb বলে। উদাহরণ: He plays football. She is happy.
🔹 Verb-এর প্রধান প্রকারভেদ
১. Finite Verb (সমাপিকা ক্রিয়া)
Subject ও tense অনুযায়ী রূপ পরিবর্তন হয়। দুটি ভাগ:
→ Principal Verb: মূল ক্রিয়া (run, eat, play)
→ Auxiliary Verb: সহায়ক ক্রিয়া (am, is, are, was, were, have, has, had, will, shall, can, may, must)
২. Non-Finite Verb (অসমাপিকা ক্রিয়া)
Subject ও tense অনুযায়ী পরিবর্তন হয় না। তিনটি ভাগ:
→ Infinitive: to + verb (to read, to write)
→ Gerund: verb + -ing (reading, writing) — Noun হিসেবে কাজ করে
→ Participle: verb + -ing/-ed (running, broken) — Adjective হিসেবে কাজ করে
৩. Transitive Verb (সকর্মক ক্রিয়া)
Object লাগে।
Example: He readsa book. (book = object)
৪. Intransitive Verb (অকর্মক ক্রিয়া)
Object লাগে না।
Example: He sleeps. The baby cries.
৫. Linking Verb (সংযোজক ক্রিয়া)
Subject-কে complement-এর সাথে যুক্ত করে।
Example: She is beautiful. He became a doctor. (Linking: is, am, are, was, were, become, seem, appear, look, feel)
৬. Modal Verb (অনুজ্ঞাসূচক)
সম্ভাবনা, অনুমতি, আদেশ, সক্ষমতা প্রকাশ করে।
Examples:can, could, may, might, must, shall, should, will, would, ought to
✓ Answer: (a) — Type 2 Conditional: If + past, would + V1
💎 Pro Tips
"To + V1": Infinitive form। "I want to go" (not "to going")।
Preposition + V-ing: in, of, for, before, after, by, without সবসময় V-ing নেয়।
Modal + V1: can/may/will/should + base form only (can go, not "can goes")।
Subject-Verb agreement: Singular subject → singular verb। "The list of students is" (not are)।

Definition: An adverb is a word that modifies a verb, adjective, or another adverb.
বাংলা ব্যাখ্যা: যে শব্দ Verb, Adjective বা অন্য Adverb-এর অর্থকে modify করে বা বিশেষায়িত করে — তাকে Adverb বলে। উদাহরণ: He runs fast. She is very beautiful.
Although/Though + clause: "But" বসানো যাবে না। "Although he is poor, but he is honest" ❌
Lest + should: "Walk fast lest you should miss the bus" (পাছে...)।
No sooner had ... than: "No sooner had he come than I left."
Scarcely ... when: "Scarcely had I arrived when it rained."

Definition: An interjection is a word used to express strong emotion or sudden feeling.
বাংলা ব্যাখ্যা: যে শব্দ মনের আকস্মিক আবেগ — যেমন আনন্দ, দুঃখ, আশ্চর্য, ভয় ইত্যাদি প্রকাশ করে — তাকে Interjection বলে। সাধারণত এর পর Exclamation Mark (!) বসে।

Article (a/an/the) কি Parts of Speech?
Traditional grammar-এ Article-কে Adjective-এর অধীনে রাখা হয়। আধুনিক grammar-এ এটাকে আলাদা category-তে রাখা হয়।
